I didn't see the season finale that supposedly leads into the movie, but that's fine. You're told immediately that the "X-Files" have been closed (yet again), and that's all you really need to know.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have an onscreen chemistry like I've never seen before. They seem to belong together. I can't explain it, so I won't bother. Just know that the movie is most dynamic when these two are on the screen together.
A lot of the familiar faces are in this movie, as well as some new ones. I don't wanna get into who's in it, and quite honestly, I don't wanna mention ANYthing about the movie. It's better to know damn near nothing about the movie when you walk in to see it. What I mentioned at the top of this review is okay, though.
If you've heard that it seems like a two-hour episode on the big screen, it's true, except that the movie is much bigger (figuratively and literally). I really think that it works well as a movie, though. It will DEFINITELY do well in theaters after the TV show has run it's course.
They did a great job on this movie. It's well-written (or at least the parts I understood were), and it's brilliantly acted and directed. My only problem was that it was a bit too long, and there are some characters that I woulda liked to see more of.
