I saw the original "Scream" as soon as it came out because I thought that the concept was really clever. Unfortunately, it's lack of substance outweighed it's concept. I thought it was pretty good, but I knew that it coulda been a lot better. With "Scream 2," they improved. The jokes are funnier, the film references are wittier (I think that film geeks may like this movie more than most), and it's just a much more entertaining movie. Also, though many critics seem to disagree, I think that the ending in this movie makes a lot more sense than in the last one.
The acting was fine, but I don't think it's much of a challenge for the talented actors and actresses involved, the writing was great, and Wes Craven has proven to be one of the best horror film directors of our time. Even if he DID direct "Vampire in Brooklyn."
There are a bit of unnecessary corny moments in the movie that I coulda
done without, but as a whole, "Scream 2" is a very cool way to spend a couple
of hours.
