"LETHAL WEAPON 4"

Lethal Weapon 4

I read several reviews of "Lethal Weapon 4" before I actually saw it, and they all said the same thing: the franchise is tired, the magic is gone, and all that stuff. Well, I disagree. True, we've seen all this before, but that's what I expected. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are STILL great together. Rene Russo is still kicking ass, Joe Pesci is hilarious, as is Chris Rock. He's a new addition to the "Lethal Weapon" family, and he's very good. And I'm not saying that just because I'm a fan of his.

It's got the same old stuff. Great action, incredible stunts, a really cool car chase, moments that are ridiculous, and lots of very funny scenes. It's what I expected, that's what I got, and I walked out happy.

The villain is played by Jet Li, a superstar in martial arts films. He's up there with Jackie Chan. This is his first role as a villain, but he pulls it off easily. He's a scary guy who gives "Riggs" and "Murtaugh" a run for their money.

Like the first three, this film was directed by Richard Donner, who is as important to the "Lethal Weapon" movies behind the camera as Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are in front of the camera. He knows how to direct the big action sequences, and he knows how to direct these characters.

Forget plot, forget character development, forget about anything making sense, just watch the movie. It's a great ride.
