"KISS OR KILL"

Kiss or Kill

"Kiss or Kill" is an Australian film that seems to be creating some buzz here in the United States. It's another in the "Bonnie and Clyde of the '90s"-type films that have been coming out a lot (my personal favorite was "True Romance"). This one adds a bit of a twist, but I'm not gonna say how. Sorry.

This film was directed by Bill Bennett who, I was surprised to find out, also directed the Sandra Bullock/Denis Leary film, "Two If by Sea" (a film that most critics didn't like, but I found it amusing). The two films are similarly themed in that the couples in each film are con artists. The ones in "Two If by Sea" were a bit more cuddly, though. The couple in "Kiss or Kill" are by no means evil, but their method of conning people is a bit more harsh. Still, they're each given a back story so that you can sorta sympathize.

Matt Day played "Al" (the "Clyde" character), and he did well, but Frances O'Connor as "Nikki" ("Bonnie") is the one to watch. She has a sexy charm about her while keeping the audience in doubt as to whether she can be trusted or not. She's sexy, but chilling at the same time.

"Kiss or Kill" is by no means a brilliant movie. It's a pretty simple story with some quirky moments that made me smile. Unfortunately, it's a little too slow-paced. But the chick was REALLY cool.
