"LOUD ASSHOLES IN MOVIE THEATERS"

I tend to go to the movies during the matinees. For one thing, they cost less. Secondly, and most importantly, there are fewer people in the theater before 6PM. I rarely go to the movies at night (especially Friday-Sunday), and going to see "Dark City" on a Friday night was an unpleasant reminder of why. Sitting directly behind me were a group of girls giggling, laughing, and cracking jokes during the movie. Way in the back, there was a group of guys who were so loud, I often heard them, even though they were about ten rows back. Who are these people, and why are they so inconsiderate? The worst thing is that if you try to tell them to keep it down, no matter how politely, it's very unlikely that they'll be quiet. As a matter of fact, they'll probably get louder just to spite you. I think that I'm in the majority here when I say that what they're doing is wrong, and they should be kicked out of the theater for doing that.

Are you one of those loud people? WERE you? I was. Maybe about ten years ago when my parents started dropping my friends and I off at the movies. My friends and I were pretty obnoxious, but like I said, that was about ten years ago. I was 15 years old! The assholes I'm referring to are adults! Their growth may not have stunted, but somewhere in the early teenage years, their maturity did. And I'm not even really excusing those who ARE in their early teens. They should know better. I stopped being obnoxious quite suddenly. It was the simple realization that I would enjoy the movie more if I just watched it, without babbling.

Everybody talks at least a tiny bit during a movie. Even me if it seems like an okay moment. But who are these people having big-time discussions? Or the moron who has to be funny in front of his date. Or the giggle-girls? GROW UP!!

I honestly DO think that people should be thrown out for talking loudly during a movie. Okay, maybe that person can get a warning first, but after that, they should be out on their ass without a refund. I know that may seem overboard, but those people need to realize that there are people in there who paid money to enjoy a movie quietly.

Maybe there should be a theater divided into sections, sorta like a "smoking section" in restaurants. A separate area closed off for those who feel the need to be loud during a film. I'm all for that. Even if they raise the price of the movie ticket. Why the hell not? Sure I'd pay a bit more if it guarantees that I'll have a quiet movie-going experience.

Realistically, there's no solution to this problem that doesn't involve movie theaters spending more money, or you having to miss parts of the movie (to get the manager, for example). For now, I guess I'll just keep going to the matinees.
